SPANISH FORK, Utah — UDOT released its latest findings on its plan to alleviate traffic issues in Spanish Fork. The department narrowed down five interchange options to one on Center Street.
“We have chosen that area for it and then we’re moving into the design phase,” said Wyatt Woolley with UDOT. “[It’s] basically, kind of what people probably consider the heart of Spanish Fork. And Main Street of Spanish Fork also connects into that interchange there so it’s extremely busy.”
Next steps? Finishing the design, which Woolley says they’re hoping to do this year. Then the hunt for funding from the state begins.
“It’s looking at everything. It’s looking at businesses, landowners, and homeowners,” said Wooley. “And then we also determined based on traffic models what would be the best connection to alleviate the most traffic.”
UDOT will continue to hold public hearings for residents and business owners to express their comments and give feedback.
