What people are saying about Taylor Thomas
August 2024 nomination:
“She is such an incredible teacher and is fully committed to her students. She created a loving and safe environment for my son after a medical emergency left him hospitalized. She visited during his hospital stay and supported his return to the classroom. He had am acquired brain injury so while his brain was healing she supported his needs and went above and beyond advocating for him. She recognized the differences and challenges he was facing after having a major brain surgery. She will always have an extremely huge place in our hearts. Future students will be so lucky to have her.”

July 2024 nomination:
“She’s a kind very involved. She went above and beyond for my son who had a brain injury in December. She visited us in the hospital, and was in constant contact with my son and our family. She created a safe place for my son to come back to after months of hospital and medical issues and always encouraged him to believe in himself, and never let him feel different or alone. I believe this teacher creates an environment where all her students feel loved, safe, and included. She really encouraged a sense of community for the students in her class, where students were always picking each other back up.
She delicates extra time for a program called girls on the run, where they are doing a 5 k this week. Shes never pushing her students out the door and really cares about their social and emotional well-being, along with education. My son has had nothing but growth since entering her classroom and I know the biggest piece of that puzzle is her. I’ve watched the time and love she pores into her job. I believe she deserves so much more praise than I could ever give her.”

May 2024 nomination:
“My grandson suffered a brain aneurysm during the school year and was at Primary Children’s Hospital for months. Mrs. Taylor came to the hospital to visit him and was very concerned for my grandson. She has been a fierce advocate for him since his return to school.
Having a child with communication deficits in the classroom is difficult. She has been patient, and working to accommodate his needs while advocating for the additional support he needs for the summer and coming school year. Our family can not thank her enough!”
