“Mr. Simmons is the band & orchestra teacher at Mt. Jordan Middle School. He has built an award winning program by focusing on his students’ needs, abilities, and interests.
He helped our grandson discover and develop his musical abilities and allowed him to shine. But that is only part of the story.
Our grandson came to Mt. Jordan at a particularly difficult time in his life. The past few years he has experienced personal loss and upheaval that no one should have to go through—devastating circumstances beyond his control—at a time in his life when students find life difficult to negotiate at best. Mr. Simmons and his program saved him.
He believed in him, encouraged his interests, held high expectations, and provided needed scaffolding—all “best practices”.
We are aware that this is his practice with all his students.
We are so grateful for what his influence has done for our grandson. Mr. Simmons makes the band room a safe place. He gives his students wings to fly and shows them the sky. They truly soar!
He is an excellent instructor, a needed friend & advisor, a true mentor.”
