SALT LAKE CITY — As we get set to honor dear old Dad this weekend, a website called Merchoid has ranked the top “Dad Rock” bands for every state in the country. While teens get their music from TikTok, and Grandpas listening to Yacht Rock — dads in Utah are listening to one band above all others. 

No surprise, according to this survey 57% of respondents say today’s music isn’t as good as the classics. I mean compare TikTok stuff to the Chili Peppers, one of the top-ranked dad bands. In Wyoming and Idaho Daddies dig Nirvana. In 11 other states, fathers favor — go figure — Nickleback.

But here on the home front, there’s a clear winner. So Dad, hike up your relaxed fit jeans, tell a couple of great dad jokes.

Here’s one. Dogs can’t operate an MRI machine. But Catscan. 

So fire up the grill and crank up the music — to three, because you’re a dad now — dance like your kids can see you.
