SALT LAKE CITY — A 28-year-old man died early Sunday morning in the Capitol Hills neighborhood, after driving his motorcycle down the middle of a Utah Transit Authority Trax line.
Salt Lake City Police Department said in a press release that it looks like the 3:33 a.m. crash near the Guadalupe Trax station was an accident.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the man misidentified the Trax line as the roadway,” SLCPD said. “[The motorcyclist] drove down the middle of the rails and crashed into the support rails at a high rate of speed.”
Officers said when they arrived at the scene the man was under his motorcycle with critical injuries. He was reported to have died at the scene of the crash.
Police said there were no UTA Trax trains involved in the crash.
