SALT LAKE CITY — Areas of Utah likely won’t see any rain on Friday. However on Saturday, things could change.
Thunderstorms could make their way across northern Utah on Saturday and stick around through Monday. KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson said northern Utah could see some unpredictable heavy pockets of rain over the weekend.
According to Johnson, monsoonal moisture is coming from the Gulf of Mexico and the Sea of Cortez
Southern Utah has a fifty-fifty chance of seeing rain and lightning on Saturday and a 40% chance on Sunday. Additionally, area has a chance of more flash flooding.
People should expect heavy rain, strong winds and frequent lightning. Anyone planning to visit the national or state parks, should keep an eye on the forecast especially if looking at flood prone areas like slot canyons or dry washes.
