SALT LAKE CITY — This weekend drivers will be seeing significant and needed UDOT construction closures.
UDOT is doing some significant construction on the bridge from 3200 W onto the 201.
Delays up to 30 minutes will affect thousands of commuters.
The bridge being closed for construction is notorious for potholes that constantly need filling.
UDOT project manager David Cox explains that the growing population and hard winters have forced their hand.
“Our maintenance crews are constantly out here filling in pot holes, but they can’t keep up,” said Cox.
The major bridge work will halt travel in both directions, effecting westside commuters that use it to get to the 201.
Cox said it has to happen.
“Out here on the westside of the valley there’s been an enormous amount of growth. If you drive down 201 and I-80 you’ll see dozens of new warehouses that have bog trucks delivery vehicles workers going back and forth,” said Cox.
Prepare for delays if your daily commute includes taking the bridge from 3200 W onto the 201, or take an alternate route.
They expect construction to continue through early next year.
