CLEARFIELD, Utah — A 10-year-old Layton boy riding his bike was hit and killed by a pick-up truck on Saturday.
Clearfield police said the truck and the boy didn’t see each other. And the truck was trying to make a turn at a four-way stop. Clearfield assistant Police Chief Devin Rogers said the fatal accident happened at the intersection of 1900 South and Chelemes Way in Clearfield.
The North Davis Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to take the boy to the hospital. He later died from his injuries.
“They were able to transport him to the hospital. His condition worsened there to where he ultimately passed away from injuries sustained in the accident,” Rogers said.
Rogers said this is a tragic reminder that we need to be hyper aware of each other on the roads, especially since school has started and more kids will be using intersections traveling to and from school.
“When you are operating in a roadway, you know, [as a] bicyclist and motorist we need to make sure that we are paying attention to each other. Watching out for each other,” Rogers said.
Police are not releasing the boy’s name, but a GoFundMe page identifies the boy as Dom Boudrero, and shows the Layton community is rallying to support his family after the loss of their boy.
